Triyuginarayan Temple History

The name means “Tri” (three), “Yugi” (eras) and “Narayan” (Lord Vishnu). According to Hindu tradition, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married here in the Sat Yuga, with Lord Vishnu acting as Parvati’s brother. They took their pheras around the Akhand Dhuni, a sacred fire believed to have burned without a break ever since. The temple stands in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, at about 1,980 m, and couples today take their Saat Pheras around the same flame.

Best Vedic Wedding Destination in India

Many couples call Triyuginarayan the world’s best Vedic wedding destination, and it is easy to see why. It is the temple where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are believed to have married, and the Akhand Dhuni still burns there. Add Himalayan peaks, forest ridges and clean mountain air, and you get a wedding destination that no banquet hall can match.

Vedic Luxury Wedding Destination

Want luxury with tradition? Our premium plan (50–100+ guests, ₹12–₹25 Lakh) adds a multi-night luxury resort stay, custom floral mandap décor, helicopter transfers from Phata/Sirsi, a full media team and Garhwali folk performances, all around a genuine Vedic ceremony.

Why Choose This Wedding Destination

Intimate guest lists of 10–50 people, a sacred setting, lower cost than a city venue and a story no one else has. Best seasons are May–June and September–October.

Vedic Wedding Ceremony Steps

A Vedic wedding follows a sacred order. The Purohit may adjust it slightly to family custom.

  1. Sankalp and Ganesh Puja: the families pray for a blessed beginning.
  2. Milni and welcome: the groom’s party is received by the bride’s family.
  3. Jaimala: the couple exchange garlands.
  4. Kanyadaan: the bride is given in marriage.
  5. Vivah Havan: the sacred fire is lit, and at Triyuginarayan the couple sit before the Akhand Dhuni.
  6. Pani Grahan: the groom takes the bride’s hand with Vedic mantras.
  7. Saat Pheras (Saptapadi): seven rounds of the fire, each with a vow.
  8. Sindoor and Mangalsutra: the groom marks the bride as his wife.
  9. Ashirwad: blessings from the Purohit and elders.
